Michael McNamara

Executive Producer

With a background in art and music, MICHAEL McNAMARA began his filmmaking career in commercials in Boston and New York. His Boston-based production company Evans/McNamara was responsible for the political television campaigns of John Kerry, Mike Dukakis, Barney Frank, and others, as well as a slew of award-winning short films seen on HBO, Showtime, USA, A&E, and PBS. Relocating to LA, in the early 90s, he wrote scripts for Pacific Artists and Roger Corman’s Concorde Pictures, and served as Second Unit Director and Supervising Editor on productions for Don Mischer Productions, HBO Productions, Propaganda Films, A*Vision Entertainment, and High Five Productions.

In the mid-90s, in Nashville, as the Creative Director at High Five Entertainment, Michael was the Principal Director of the critically-acclaimed music television series The Road, directed the popular At The Ryman, as well as numerous music videos and music short forms.

Upon returning LA, in the late 90s, as a Writer/Producer for VH1’s Behind The Music, Michael created McCommera Filmworks, Inc. aka MCfilmworks, and, as a Producer/Writer/Director, he worked on numerous specials and series for many of the Viacom Networks, that include VH1 Honors, CMT Crossroads, Duets, BTM2, Sundance: Where Music Meets Film, Sex with Cindy Crawford, The Jon Brion Show, Stone Country, Peace In The Valley, Set In Skin, Fast Living, Love Lounge, Party at the Palms, Most Shocking, American Candidate, and many more.

Partner Sheri Maroufkhani joined the company, in 2004, which led to the development and production of Baldwin Hills and Harlem Heights for BET, and Paint Misbehavin’ for TLC.
